The Account Owner role carries the highest level of access on the Rackwave platform — including exclusive control over billing, payments, account deletion, and ownership transfer. This article explains when and how to transfer ownership to another team member.
When You Might Need to Transfer Ownership
- The current owner is leaving the organisation or changing roles.
- Account management responsibility is moving to a different person or department.
- The business is being acquired or restructured.
- The current owner's email address is being decommissioned.
- A technical administrator is handing over billing control to a finance lead.
Prerequisites Before Transferring
- The new owner must already be a team member on your Rackwave account. If they are not yet a member, invite them first and wait for them to accept.
- Ensure the new owner's email address is verified and their account is active.
- Confirm the new owner understands they will have full control including billing, payment methods, and the ability to delete the account.
- Settle any outstanding invoices — ownership transfers do not affect billing obligations.
- Update your organisation's internal records to reflect the new account owner.
How to Transfer Ownership
- Log in to the Rackwave portal as the current Account Owner.
- Go to My Account → Team Members.
- Locate the team member you wish to make the new owner.
- Click their name to open their profile.
- Click Transfer Ownership at the bottom of their profile page.
- A confirmation dialog appears listing exactly what the transfer means — read it carefully.
- Enter your current password to confirm the action.
- Click Confirm Transfer.

Can the Transfer Be Reversed?
The ownership transfer is not automatically reversible. To get ownership back:
- The new owner must log in and manually transfer ownership back to you.
- If the new owner is unable or unwilling to do so, contact Rackwave support. Identity verification will be required and the process may take up to 3 business days.
Transferring Ownership When the Current Owner Has Left
If the current account owner has left your organisation and you need to transfer ownership to an active team member:
- Open a support ticket from any active Admin account on the portal.
- Subject: Ownership Transfer Request — Previous Owner Unavailable.
- Provide your company name, the email address of the previous owner, and the email address of the intended new owner.
- Rackwave support will request identity/business verification documents and process the transfer within 3 business days.
